The goal of our academy joining is to (1) provide for the local community through charity work and the support other local business and (2) To communicate our mission and vision for MATA karate and the physical and spiritual benefits of joining our Karate Academy.
Karate is used in every aspect of life. It is not a light switch that can be turned on and off. There are no seasons in karate and everyone has the ability to participate. Karate is a way of life. A common misunderstanding about karate is that is solely about kicking and punching. Although that is a general component of karate, there is much more depth to it. The true spirit of martial arts is when an individual is empowered to find their own identification of strengths including character traits such as; confidence, self-esteem and pride. Karate is about holding the door open for an elderly person, mentoring a child, studying and passing an exam, dropping 50 cents in a veteran’s bucket or calling someone just to tell them you care about them. Karate is about being a better person year-round, not just in the dojo.
